Worcester Art Museum

~ 2015~

The art faculty of West Boylston Middle/High is pleased to announce that nine of our students currently have work on display at the Worcester Art Museum.  Olamide Ige Grade 6; Hannah Silva and Abigail-Mae Kalinowski grade 8; Cheyenne Smith, Haile Garcia, Diane Peterson and Jessica Lucia Grade 10; Amanda Baldwin Grade 11; and, Deyondra Davis Grade 12 are representing West Boylston during Youth Art Month.

Organized by a committee of teachers in conjunction with the Worcester Art Museum, Youth Art Month is back in Worcester. Established in 1961, Youth Art Month is an annual observance in March designed to emphasize the value of art education for all youth and to encourage support for quality school art programs. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experiences in the visual arts. This regional exhibit is open to the districts in and around the Worcester area.

On Sunday, March 8, 2015 an opening reception will be held at the Worcester Art Museum for students and their families.  Families are welcomed to attend the opening reception for Grades K-8 between 12:00pm-2:00pm, and Grades 9-12, 3:00pm-5:00pm; during which time there will be guest speakers and student musical and/or dance performances to enjoy.  Additionally, young children will have the opportunity to meet and draw along with Children’s Book Illustrator and Author, Ralph Masiello, AKA “The Icky Bug Man.”

The exhibit will be open to the public Thursday, February 26th through March 30th  in the Higgins Education Wing.  Admission to this exhibit is free.
